The Yellow Jacket golf team didn’t get the result in the regional tournament that they may have wanted, but they did rewrite some school history over the past several days.
The boys traveled to Lubbock to take part in the tournament which was held at Shadow Hills golf course where they played arguably their best golf of the season.
On Monday the team shot what was as the time their best round of the season.
Colten Jeffress and Clay Krause each shot a team low 77. Teammates Bunker Funderburgh shot an 80, while Kendall Roberts and Luke Weber shot a 87 and 88 respectively.
After day one, the team found themselves in seventh place meaning they would need to make a move Tuesday and make a move they did on their scorecard.
In the tournament’s second round, no Stephenville golfer shot higher than a 84.
Jeffress once again shot a 77 and Krause added a stroke to his first day score with a 78. Also hitting the high 70’s was Weber who finished with a 79. Roberts finished with a 82 and Funderburgh rounded out the team with an 84.
The total score of 316 was good for a school record and saw the Yellow Jackets place eighth.
