Though Kaylee Dahl is just a freshman at Stephenville High School, she’s looking toward making an impact as a flute and piccolo player in the Yellow Jacket Band.
“I want to try and get first chair and make all-state band next year,” she said. “I’m also going to try out for section leader this year. You have to go to all the leadership meetings and then they interview you and pick section leaders from that.”
After picking up the flute for middle school tryouts, Dahl new the flute was the perfect fit for her and enjoys being a part of the band.
“It’s been really good, marching season was kind of different than I expected,” she said. “I was a little hesitant to do it at first, but then I ended up really liking it.”
Over the summer Dahl will attend band camps and enjoy the outdoors riding dirt bikes on her family’s property in Lipan.
Dahl isn’t sure what she wants to do after high school, but she’s looking forward to the experiences that high school will have to offer.
“I’m looking forward to just having fun with my friends and getting to spend time with them,” she said.
