The Student of the Month for September is 8th grader, Colten Couch.

He has attended MM since the 5th grade. He hopes that his last year in MM School will be a good year and that everybody does what they are supposed to do for the Thanksgiving dinner.

Football is definitely on his mind. Last week MM scored 90 points and the opposing team scored 67 points. Coach Hutchinson said that it was a very exciting game and lasted for two and a half hours. Colten said that he scored 7 touchdowns. Every person on the team either scored a touchdown or an extra point. It was a school record and the football will be signed by all of the players and placed in the trophy case. In addition to football, Colten plays the trumpet in the school band. He likes to go hunting and just be outdoors. He especially likes MM School because he gets to do things that he would not have the opportunity in other schools.

The entire school attended a play at Stephenville High School the day I talked to him. He liked the play but did not think that he would do drama next year in Stephenville. He has one dog and a “bunch of cows” at home. His home is 8 miles on the other side of Dublin. He said that it takes him about an hour to get to school. Did I mention that Principal Shirley Couch is his grandmother? We will see Colten in other sports; he plays basketball, baseball, and track. He has one sister who attends Stephenville High School and plays varsity soccer. Congratulations to a delightful young man.

The MM School Book Fair starts Monday, Sept. 28. The money generated by the book sale goes to buy additional books for the library and supports reading in the school. MM has always been a reading emphasis school.

All of the kids can be seen with a book that they are reading for ARA points.

Senior Citizens will be meeting Thursday, Oct. 1, at 6:30. This is a program that you will not want to miss, United Coop. In addition to giving an update on the electrical business, they bring goodies for everyone. Last year, they gave $50 toward your electric bill to one lucky person. They bring several of their employees so it is also a time that we can say “Thank you” for them keeping us in electricity. Bring your favorite pot luck dish and come enjoy.

Expect to see the MM School kids in your neighborhood selling raffle tickets soon. The Fall Carnival is Saturday, October 24th. The raffle is for a Yeti Cooler, a Debbie Lincoln painting, and some other great items. Be sure to buy your raffle tickets and help support the PTF. They are still collecting money for the covered pavilion for the playground.
