CLAIRETTE - A graveside service for Mary Elizabeth Sherrard Eberhardt, 81, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 29, at Clairette Cemetery.

Mary was born in Clairette to Eddie Salmon Sherrard and Robert Warren Sherrard. She grew up in Clairette and attended school in Hico. She graduated from Hico High School where she played on the Hico state champion basketball team. She eventually moved to Bryan where she met Billy Joe Eberhardt, a pharmacist at Jarrott’s Pharmacy at Town Shire Shopping Center in Bryan. They married on May 16, 1959. After Billy left the pharmacy, Mary and Billy owned and operated Gibson’s Pharmacy in College Station.

Mary enjoyed joining friends at Britt’s Coffee Shop and shopping at the Manor East Mall in Bryan. She was also a member of the Garden Club and the First United Methodist Church in both Bryan and Brenham. She loved to back banana bread and prune cake, which she gave to family and friends. She also loved her family, friends and especially her granddaughters.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe on Nov. 20, 1999; her parents, Eddie and Robert Sherrard; brothers and sisters, Hershel, Billy, Ethredge, Charlene and Lila.

Mary is survived by her two sons, Joe David Eberhardt and wife Abigail Zapiain of San Antonio and Frederick Eberhardt and wife Deborah of College Station; her daughter, Sheri Hohlt and husband Ronnie of Burton; four granddaughters, Maci Hohlt, Mallorie Hohlt, Ellen Eberhardt and Ahtziri Eberhardt; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
