Texstar Ford's longtime tradition of hosting a summer concert series will kick off in June with a spectacular summer lineup.
The series will begin at 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, when Michael Martin Murphey takes the stage at Birdsong Amphitheater at Stephenville City Park.
"We got a huge response from his performance last year so we are bringing him back again," said Doug Montgomery, owner of Texstar Ford. "But this time he's bringing his whole band."
This is the 16th year Montgomery has hosted the concert series, which is free to the public.
He said it came about after the Birdsong Amphitheater was built.
"Larry Joe Taylor and I went down to the park to look at it and we both said, 'We need to do something with this,'" Montgomery said.
And from there, the tradition was born.
Taylor still helps book the artists and Montgomery said he couldn't pull off such an impressive event without his help or the help from city staff.
"They are all great to work with and I couldn't do it without them," he said. "We are looking forward to another great series. To have talent like this come in is pretty good stuff. We hope families will grab an ice chest and lawn chair and come out to listen to some great music this summer."
