The Alzheimer’s Association of North Central Texas will be making a trip to the Stephenville Senior Citizen Center—164 E. College St.—to give a free presentation from 1:30-3 p.m. Wednesday, June 10.

The presentation is called The Basics: Memory Loss, Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease and is open to the public.

“We don’t get a lot of chances to travel and reach out in person to people in smaller towns,” said Lisa Buck, coordinator of the association.

The Texas chapter serves Erath County along with 39 other counties.

“The basics is for people who just want to learn more, may have questions or concerns about themselves or a loved one or who already have a diagnosis,” Buck said. “It’s a chance to ask questions, pick up literature and learn more about how the Alzheimer’s Association can help.”

The presentation will be about an hour long and questions will be taken afterward.

“Alzheimer’s is the fifth leading cause of death among individuals over the age of 65,” Buck said. “We don’t want to scare people, just help them understand the disease a little better and know that help is available.”

The event is co-sponsored by the Area Agency on Aging of North Central Texas and reservations will be appreciated.
