Huckabay High School has announced Makayla Metsgar as the Class of 2015 valedictorian. She has a 3.75 GPA and answered some questions about high school and her future plans.

How do you feel about being valedictorian of your graduating class?

Itís really exciting. I was honestly really scared that I would not be able to do it, and it hasnít really hit me yet that I pulled it off.

What will you miss most about high school?

Iíll miss seeing my friends in the younger grades. Being in such a small school I saw them every day, and Iíll definitely miss that.

What is your best memory from high school?

Freshman year as a whole is my favorite high school memory. It was such a fun year and by far my favorite. I made some of my best friends when I was in ninth grade.

What are your plans after graduation?

I am starting at Tarleton this summer and then I plan to graduate from there with a degree in pre-veterinary medicine. After that, I want to go on to Texas A&M for vet school.

What are you looking forward to about the future?

I am really excited to be established in life. I am ready to have my degree, career, house and family all settled. Pretty much, I am ready to be comfortable.

What are your plans this summer?

I am going to Upward Bound for the month of June like I do every summer. During that time, I am going to take a college government class. After that, I do not really have any plans. I will probably just be preparing for college!
