STEPHENVILLE - Misty Wilson has announced the fourth member of the Tarleton State TexAnn recruiting class Thursday afternoon - Nia Jackson, a standout guard from Mansfield Summit High School.
"I am thrilled to have Nia become part of the TexAnn program," said Wilson. "She is extremely quick with the ball and a great defender. She will give us some speed and quickness at the point guard spot, which allows us to run the floor more often."
In her senior season, Jackson averaged 12.7 points, 2.0 steals, 3.1 assists and 3.9 rebounds on her way to earning first-team all-district accolades and all-tournament honors at the McDonald's Invitational.
Jackson comes to Tarleton after spending four years on the varsity squad at Mansfield Summit, becoming only the fifth player in school history to do that. She tallied 801 points, 280 assists and 218 steals in her four-year career.
The Mansfield product has helped Summit to the postseason in all four seasons of her tenure, including a 4A State Championship as a freshman in 2011-12. During her four years at Summit, Jackson helped her squad to a playoff record of 12-3 through three years of 4A playoffs and her final season in the 5A postseason.
"Nia comes from a great program that has a winning tradition, so she understands the work and commitment it takes to be successful," said Wilson. "We look forward to having Nia for four years and seeing the impact she has for us on the floor."
Jackson joins the Tarleton State recruiting class, which includes high school standouts Catherine Okwilagwe, Shelby Mankins and Karah Sicurella.
