ALLENDALE, Mich. - The NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National Championships are one day away from getting under way, and the Tarleton State Texans and TexAnns are ready to compete against the cream of the crop in Division II track and field.

The women's team, holding a ranking of 13th in the final USTFCCCA Division II poll of the regular season, will be represented on day one by Euphemia Edem competing in the long jump Thursday at 2:30 p.m.

Edem enters the women's long jump competition with the No. 1 jump in Division II this season at 21-01.5 - a Tarleton State school record.

After competing in the long jump, Edem will then return to the track at 4:50 p.m. to run the second leg of the TexAnn 4x100m relay with teammates Deylinn Garrett, Hollie Boyd, and DeAijha Hicks-Boyce.

The TexAnn relay enters the prelims with the fourth fastest time in their heat and eighth fastest amongst all relays. The TexAnn 4x100m relay will run prelims in heat two lane two, while LSC rival West Texas A&M will run in lane six.

For the men, defending national champion Chase Rathke in the 1500m, and Terrance Gross in the 400m will represent the Texans.

Rathke, who holds the facility record in the event after recording a school record and personal best of 3:45.60 enters the race as the No. 7 seed with a time of 3:46.08 and will compete in heat one of two in the 1500m prelims at 5:25 p.m.

Gross, a true freshmen, will compete in the prelims of the 400m, entering the meet with the 16th fastest quarter clocking 47.38 in the finals of the Lone Star Conference championships. Gross will run in heat three, lane six, needing to finish in the top-nine at the conclusion of prelims to advance to finals.

Tarleton will continue to compete at the Division II NCAA nationals Friday and Saturday from Allendale, Michigan.
