The Shotgun Club of the Erath County 4-H shooting sports recently competed at the Dallas County 4-H Invitational where two members received trophies.
Colton Back placed third in trap, fourth in sporting clays and fifth in whiz-bang and Guthri Jenschke placed first in the trap competition and third in the skeet shooting in the novice division.
“Right now, we’re kind of small. It’s my kids and a couple of others,” said Daryl Back, the team’s coach. “We’re trying to grow the program. I think we have about six kids and I’d love to get 15 or more.”
Back said the team goes to competitions January-July every year and has an offseason in the fall. Ages nine-18 years are eligible to participate in the shooting sports.
The club will start up again in September, but those who want to sign up can do so year round.
