Local musician Courtney Patton took to the fairway to raise cash and awareness for senior hunger at the annual Golf & Guitars event in Sacramento, CA.

Patton wowed the crowd with her vocal skills the night before the tournament at the songwriter’s showcase Monday night then again on the greens Tuesday morning, taking first place and winning $10,000 for Meals on Wheels of Erath County (MOWEC).

“Senior hunger is REAL!! Sometimes the only human contact they have is with their meal delivery drivers. Sometimes the only hot meal they'll eat is the one MOW brings to their door,” Patton said via Facebook. “My team was so talented and I’m so proud to have played for Meals on Wheels of Erath County!”

MOWEC Executive Director Whitney Lee was touched by Patton’s contribution.

“Courtney was a board member for us a few years ago and she brought such a wonderful energy to our organization. I’m so grateful that she chose to support MOWEC through this tournament,” Lee said.
