Pastor Ed Dittfurth officially became the newest member of the SISD board of trustees Tuesday when he was sworn into office.
Dittfurth spoke with the E-T about his new venture and what he hopes to accomplish.
“I hope that I can bring my experiences to the community and be a resource to (Superintendent) Matt Underwood and to the rest of the board,” Dittfurth said. “I realize that’s going to take some time; I have a lot of listening to do.”
Dittfurth has stepped down from serving on the Middle Trinity Groundwater Conservation District board of directors.
“They have a rule in our district that you cannot serve on that board and another board that receives tax dollars,” he said. “So I am no longer a director at the ground water conservation.”
Dittfurth's two children attend Stephenville schools, and he said he is excited to be a part of the board.
“We genuinely care about the community,” he said. “When place 7 came available, that was a big deal for me because I wanted to serve alongside those people.”
Dittfurth has been finishing up his doctorate in education and graduates in December.
“My heart is ready to serve,” Dittfurth said. “I have a healthy respect to become a part of the team.”
