Summertime marks the annual Stephenville Public Library’s Summer Reading Program kicking off June 4 with a visit from Kathy Lenz from Dinosaur Valley State Park.
In addition to the library’s story times, special events will take place throughout the summer. All ages can sign up and pick up their reading logs beginning June 2.
“The kids can fill them out and at the end of the summer they turn them in to get a certificate and goody bag of prizes,” said Mary Meredith, director of SPL.
She adds that this is the perfect time for kids to get their library cards.
“If they don’t use those reading skills they’ve learned over the summer, they’ll lose what they’ve gained through the school year,” Meredith said. “I think it’s good for parents to lead by example and try to read more this summer.”
For more information call the library at 918-1240.
“I look forward to the families coming in and spending time together,” Meredith said. “I think that summer is a really good time to get kids to read.”
