Turnbow-Higgs American Legion Post 240 and Auxiliary 240 will continue its tradition of hosting a Memorial Day ceremony at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 25. The 30-minute program will mark the 15th consecutive year it’s been held at West Memorial Cemetery in Stephenville. The event will include playing of “To the Colors” flag raising ceremony, followed by the singing of The National Anthem.

This year’s guest speaker is Don Parker, senior adult minister at Graham Street Church of Christ. Don is a Marine Corp Veteran having served from 1955 to 1960 as a trained shooter and instructor in specialized marksmanship. While serving in Korea, his unit founded a marksmanship training program that became the universal training program for both the Marine Corp and United States Army," according to Roger Easter.

"The ceremony will close with the laying of a wreath by guest speaker and president Kathy Geffre of Auxiliary Unit 240, followed by a 3 volley rifle salute and playing of TAPS performed by Turnbow-Higgs Post 240 Honor guard," Easter said.
