The Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial start to summer, and with it comes the first chance residents will have this season to plunge into Stephenville's very own water park.

Splashville will open for the holiday weekend, then close next week while area schools host end-of-year parties. The park will open officially for the summer on Saturday, May 30.

"We are looking forward to another great season at Splashville," said manager D'Anna Green. "Our focus this year is customer service and we have changed some of our policies to more family-friendly rules."

Some of those changes include issuing "rain bucks" for those rainy days when the pool has to shut down. It also includes allowing parents to slide down the kiddie slides with their children and float down the lazy river in tubes with children 42" or shorter.

The water park will be open from noon to 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday and 2-7 p.m. Monday, Memorial Day.

There will also be full concessions that include pizza, chicken nuggets, pretzels and more.

Daily admission is $5.50 per person and $3 for senior citizens and members of the military. Twilight swimming from 5-7 p.m. is $2. Season passes for individuals and families are also available.

Splashville will also offer swim lessons, exercise classes and birthday party packages during the summer.
