After considering a presentation by Police Chief Jason King of the circumstances regarding a denial of application for a solicitation license by Spartan Construction and Roofing, the Stephenville City Council upheld the decision.

According to King, four representatives of the company formally applied for the solicitation permits, which can take up to 10 business days for approval. No solicitation is allowed until applications are approved.

However, King pointed out that on the same day the four applied, they were out soliciting in the city in violation of the code as outlined in Section 112.10.

King said he believes they willfully ignored the code, including the portion that prohibits solicitation after 4:30 p.m. and so he denied their application as a business for six months.

No representative from Spartan Construction and Roofing was present and the council voted unanimously to uphold the denial of application as per the recommendations of Chief King.
