In April 2014 Warnock Hardware of Bluff Dale received the first Texas Treasure Business Award in Erath County.

Sponsored by the Texas Historical Commission, the program pays tribute to businesses that have provided employment opportunities and support to the state’s economy for 50 years or more.

Warnock Hardware, which has been in business since 1908 is still owned and operated by Mary Jaresh Grantham and her brother John Jaresh, great-grandchildren of the original owner.

The Erath County Historical Commission knows that many businesses in Erath County qualify for this award and would like to submit more applications in 2015. If you are part of such a business or know of one that would be interested, please send a brief history of the operation to ECHC, Box 366, Bluff Dale, 76433.

There is no obligation on the part of the business except for displaying the Treasure in Business medallion at a prominent place.

Grantham said that receiving the award gave her historic store positive publicity and many visitors comment on the medallion displayed by the front door.

The Texas Treasure Business Award is a way to recognize and honor these longtime Texas owned and operated businesses in our county who are part of our history as well as our economy.
