Tarleton State has officially announced the football schedule for the upcoming season, which is set to begin on Sept. 12 at Memorial Stadium.

Tarleton State currently has an open date scheduled forSeptember 5, which can still be filled prior to the start of the season.

As of now, Tarleton State will play its first game of the season at home in Stephenville when the Texans host Findlay (OH) onSeptember 12 at 7 p.m. The game against the Oilers will be the first meeting between the two teams since they met in the 1978 NAIA National Playoffs, in addition to being Military Appreciation night.

From there, the Texans will hit the road for back-to-back weeks in the only scheduled consecutive games away from Memorial Stadium on the season.

Tarleton will head to AT&T Stadium in Arlington for the fourth straight season on Sept. 19 to square off in the Lone Star Conference opener against West Texas A&M at 3:30 p.m. before turning around the next week for a trip to Wichita Falls for a Sept. 26 meeting against Midwestern State.

When the calendar turns to October, Tarleton will be back in Stephenville on the first Saturday of the month to host Texas A&M-Commerce on Family Weekend for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

After an Oct. 10 trip to Kingsville, the Texans will come home for the third and fourth home games of the season - beginning the homecoming game against Eastern New Mexico at 6 p.m. on Oct. 17. The final regular season home game will be the following Saturday against Oklahoma Panhandle State, who will be joining the LSC in 2016 as a football only affiliate.

The regular season will come to an end on Halloween in San Angelo as the Texans hit the road to face Angelo State at LeGrand Stadium.

"We're excited for the season," said head coach Cary Fowler. "It's exciting to have 10 Division II games on the schedule and that is going to be big for us."

The final two weeks of the season will consist of the second year of the Lone Star Conference Football Playoffs, which are scheduled for Nov. 7 and Nov. 14 at the home of the highest seed in the respective games.
