Two new faces to local politics have been elected to serve on the Stephenville City Council.

Mark McClinton defeated Justin Allison for Place 1, but the race was a close one. McClinton nudged Allison by just 21 votes in Saturday's general election. McClinton received 379 votes and Allison received 358.

"I am very excited," McClinton said Saturday night. "I asked the voters to put their trust in me and that's what they've done. I'm ready to hit the ground running."

Rhett Harrison defeated Andrew Hansen for Place 5 with 518 votes to 210.

Harrison could not be reached for comment Saturday.

Place 1 was held by Casey Hogan and Place 5 was held by Brady Pendleton, who decided not to seek another term.

The new council members will be sworn into office at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in Council Chambers at City Hall.
