For those whose eyes were glued to the weather forecast for the past several days the news of the opening game in the bi-district baseball playoff series between Stephenville and Burkburnett being cancelled Friday night came as no surprise.

A text message from Stephenville's Assistant Athletic Director Mike Carroll Friday afternoon mentioned that tornado activity in the Wichita Falls area forced the hand of Burkburnett's Superintendent to not allow the school's buses to travel to the playoff site in Graford.

In effect, the two teams will now play one game in Graford at noon to decide who will move on to the area round of the playoffs.

As of 8:50 p.m. Friday evening, the Weather Channel is predicting a 35 percent chance of rain at noon in Graford. The chances of precipitation increases to around 60 percent in the hours after.

Per UIL rules, the two teams cannot play a partial game and it be called officially. A complete seven inning contest must be completed for the game to be valid.

As of now, no information is known on the plans should the game experience another delay.
