Tarleton State is one of 64 teams still competing for a shot at the national championship and the playoff road officially begins tomorrow evening at 6:30 p.m. against No. 3 West Texas A&M in Canyon.


Game one of the tournament begins at 4 p.m. between Cameron and Angelo State with Tarleton and West Texas A&M playing the nightcap. From there, the rest of the tournament will go as followed in the double-elimination set-up:

Game 3: Winner of 1 vs. Winner of 2, Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

Game 4: Loser of 1 vs. Loser of 2, Saturday at 4 p.m.

Game 5: Loser of 3 vs. Winner of 4, Saturday at 6:30 p.m.

Game 6: Winner of 3 vs. Winner of 5, Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

Game 7: If Necessary, Sunday at 4 p.m.


The game will have a live radio broadcast presented by the Tarleton Sports Network presented by North Texas Ford Dealers. The Voice of the TexAnns, Keltin Wiens, will serve as the play-by-play for Tarleton softball this postseason. The radio broadcast can be heard on KTRL 90.5 FM in Stephenville and surrounding areas or online at The pregame show will begin 15 minutes prior to first pitch.


In Tarleton's first three postseason tournaments, the TexAnns are 2-1 in the first game of the regional.


Tarleton State is back in the NCAA playoffs for the fourth time in school history and first time since 2007. Tarleton has won six NCAA tournament games in its previous three trips to the postseason.


Tarleton's half of the South Central region bracket includes four Lone Star Conference opponents, including West Texas A&M, Cameron and Angelo State. On the other side of the bracket, which is being held in San Antonio, includes Texas Woman's, St. Mary's, Metro State and Regis. The winner of each half of the regional brackets from around the country will advance to next week's Super Regionals.
