ROHNERT PARK, Calif. - For the eighth time in nine years, the Tarleton State women's golf team has won the NCAA II Super Region IV Golf Championship.
The TexAnns carded a 295 (+7) in the final round-seven strokes better than second-best finisher-to come all the way back from sixth place after the first round to win the regional championship at the Foxtail Golf Club in Rohnert Park, California.
Tarleton State finished with an 893 (+29) in the three-day tournament.
With the win, Tarleton State advances to the NCAA II Women's Golf Championship in Allendale, Michigan on May 13-16.
St. Edward's (898, +34) and Sonoma State (902, +38) the second- and third-place finishers, respectively, automatically qualify for the NCAA II Championship as the top three teams advance.
Isabel Jimenez-Perea finished in the three-way tie for third overall with a 74, 71, 76 in the three rounds for a 5-over-par 221.
The three-time Lone Star Conference Golfer of the Year recorded a par on the final 10 holes and had a tournament-high 42 pars during the week.
Beatriz Prados carded a 76, 72, 74 for a 222 (+6) and finished in a tie for sixth. The LSC First Team Golfer recorded 12 pars and a pair of birdies in her final round.
Casey Wild had her best round of the tournament, finishing with 1-under-par on the final day and a 223 (+7) overall to rank 10th. The LSC Freshman of the Year improved after every round, shooting a 78 and 74 on the first two days. Wild had six birdies in the final round.
Sarah Gee improved from a pair of 79 scores in the first two rounds and registered a 74 in the final round. Gee finished with a 232 (+16) for the TexAnns.
Kerbey Kipp completed the three-round tournament with a 240 (+24).
West Texas A&M and Midwestern State were the other two LSC teams in the regional tournament. WT tied for fourth with a 908 (+44) and MSU, the LSC Tournament Champions, placed seventh with a 917 (+53).
The TexAnns are looking to top last year's school-best finish at the NCAA Championship where Tarleton State finished third overall.
