Leave your canned goods and other non-perishable items by your mailbox Saturday for the National Association of Letter Carrier’s Annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. Letter carriers will pick up the food items food and take them to local food pantries like H.O.P.E., Inc.

“If they have anything a few days before (Saturday) we can definitely accept that too,” said local letter carrier Joe Wehnert.

Items that will be accepted include canned items, pasta, cereal, peanut butter and rice. Do not include items that are expired or in glass containers.

“Some high school students, including my son, are donating their time to come help unload the trucks for us,” Wehnert said.

The Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive is the largest food drive in the country with the poster for this year reading, “If we all work together we can deliver a whole bag full of hope!”
