BROWNWOOD, Texas (AP) — Some music-loving students in rural West Texas have offered in-person singing telegrams for Mother's Day anywhere in their county.
The Brownwood High School choir fundraising effort includes an offer for $5 singing telegrams by phone, or $20 for in-person serenades.
The student group in Brown County, population nearly 38,000, plans to offer singing telegrams on Friday and Saturday at requested locations.
Brownwood is the county seat. Other towns within about a 25-mile radius include Bangs, Blanket, Cross Cut, Early and May.
The Brownwood High School choir offered similar singing telegrams last Mother's Day, with more than 30 telegrams delivered. Choir director Cindy Franklin says the lyrics to the various songs include thanks to each mother.
Mother's Day is Sunday.
