The 43rd annual Stephenville Optimist Club auction was a hit Friday raising $44,000 for community youth activities.

“We did really well,” said Cheryl Hatton, vice president of club affairs. “Our largest ticket item was the 22-person suite to the Rangers game; I think it went for $4,500.”

The suite was donated by Cross Timbers Orthopedics.

The second largest ticket item was a two-person suite to a Dallas Cowboys game donated by PAL-CON and the third largest was a side of beef donated by Dr. Bill Evans, of Cross Timbers Orthopedics, who has an angus farm.

Hatton said about 200 people showed up for the event and if anyone who missed the auction wants to donate, the Optimist Club is still accepting cash donations.

She added that the auctioneers—Don Coan, Bryan Davis, Jason Beyer and Brent Graves - helped the event run smoothly.

“Those guys donated their time and we couldn’t do what we did without them,” she said
