Hoping to solidify their No. 3 playoff seeding, Stephenville travels to Brownwood Friday to end the regular season.

The Yellow Jackets, 3-4 against District 6-4A competition, trails Abilene Wylie and Mineral Wells in the loop standings.

Stephenville, leading Graham early Tuesday by as many as 13 points, needed a fourth-quarter rally to stave off the Steers and claim their third loop win, 64-57.

”We started throwing the ball all over the court, not sure to who,” said SHS head coach Jonathan Normand in his post game comments. “Right there toward the end we executed very well, a couple of half-court sets, and we made some free throws down the stretch also. “

The ‘Jackets’ offensive attack was led by Kaegun Williams’ 17, 15 from Darian Brown and 12 from Josh Nowell, who fouled out in the fourth.

The Lions, winless in their seven district battles, are 4-21 overall.

Varsity tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m. at BHS.

In other hoops action involving Erath County teams, Huckabay and Lingleville each host District 18-1A games while their showdown, probably for first place, looms.

The No. 16 Indians, 17-11 overall and 7-1 within the district, host winless Gordon in their last tilt before Tuesday’ Lingleville game for all the marbles.

Huckabay’s last game was a 62-47 thumping of Gorman Tuesday in which Gavin Fuentes scored 19 points.

Lingleville, 23-5 overall and ranked No. 15 by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches, is also 7-1 heading into its weekend battle with Gorman.

The Cardinals lone loop loss came Tuesday when Strawn nipped them 46-44, despite a 16-point night from Jared Hagood.

Lingleville topped the Panthers in their first meeting of the year, 78-71, taking a 70-36 advantage after three quarters.

In the other local Friday game, Dublin hosts Breckenridge in a District 8-3A tilt.
