A busy weekend awaits TexAnn softball as they play six games in three days at the West Texas A&M Woodward Classic in Canyon.

Tarleton enters the event with a 6-1 record and on a four-game win streak including three straight at last weekend’s Lion Classic at Texas A&M-Commerce, and a 2-1 victory over Northwestern Oklahoma State on Monday.

The TexAnns, hitting .381 as a team, are led offensively by Lone Star Conference Hitter of the Week Katelyn Conlee. Conlee, a junior from Stephenville, carries a league-best .692 batting average and 14 RBIs into the weekend tournament.

Conlee, who has hit safely in 18 of her 26 at-bats, has slammed four doubles and a pair of homers.

From the circle, TSU has counted heavily on Alyssa Ringhausen, who carries a .88 ERA, and Haley Freyman, who has posted a 4-1 record.

Tarleton State opens the tournament at 11:30 a.m. Friday against Chadron State College, which brings an 0-6 season mark, then turns around and faces 3-3 Colorado Mesa at 1:30 p.m.

The TexAnns take on Metro State of Denver and Colorado School of Mines Saturday, then wind up the tournament Sunday with games against Colorado State-Pueblo and Adams State.

Tarleton is at the St. Mary’s Invitational next weekend and returns home Feb. 27 for a 4-game LSC series against West Texas A&M.
