The downtown plaza and courthouse square in Stephenville will be alive with the spirit of the holiday season from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, when the Chamber of Commerce and SPARD host Holly Jolly Christmas.

From shopping and delicious holiday treats to the official lighting of the city's Christmas tree and horse drawn carriage rides, the annual event will transform the area into a Christmas wonderland filled with something the whole family will enjoy.

"Several area non-profit organizations will host fundraisers and will sell things like hot chocolate and popcorn," said Jennifer Grandpre, director of operations for the Chamber. "There will also be lots of holiday-themed crafts and games, lighted hay rides and musical and tumbling performances."

The highlight of the evening will take place about 6 p.m. when the city's official Christmas tree will be lighted at the corner of the plaza, kicking off a season of cheer.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be on hand to meet and have their picture taken with area children.
