The Hico Tigers were ranked No. 5 among the state’s Class 2A teams in preseason polling.

Voters are looking pretty smart now as Hico snuffed No. 8 Crawford, 16-14, in a regional semifinal tilt in Glen Rose Friday night. HHS improves to 8-4 and has won seven in a row.

Quarterback Hunter Wood had a hand in all 16 of the Tigers’ points, a touchdown pass to Hunter Mullins in the second quarter, the 2-point conversion on a run, and a QB draw for a score.

The Tigers face No. 1 Mart in the regional championship game Friday in Waco. Mart, 10-0, eliminated Hico District 7-2A foe No. 10 Tolar Friday night, 52-14.
