Sheriff Tommy Bryant is warning residents about another scam that's made its way to the county.

Bryant said a local woman received a call with an automated message telling her that she is behind on a loan and would face a civil lawsuit if she didn't pay $1,300.

"The woman knew something was wrong and the story didn't add up so she called the sheriff's office," Bryant said.

Bryant said the number on called ID didn't match the number that she was directed to call.

When she looked up the number online, she learned it was a scam.

Bryant is reminding residents to call authorities if they ever receive suspicious calls.
