Tarleton State University’s Rodeo Team showed up strong at the big dance in Casper, Wyoming last week, doing themselves proud at the 2014 College National Finals Rodeo.

According to results posted by the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association on their website, here’s how it came out:

The men's team came within a hair’s breadth of taking the whole enchilada as Tarleton finished as this year's CNFR reserve champions (second place) with 730 total points behind a University of Tennessee-Martin team that posted 755 points.

Tarleton cowboy Billy Bob Brown won the national championship in team roping (header) along with partner Logan Medlin of Eastern New Mexico. Brown was also crowned reserve champion All-Around Cowboy after collecting 320 points at the CNFR.

Richmond Champion won reserve champion Bareback Rider with 255 points behind Orin Larsen of Oklahoma Panhandle State University who posted 310 points. E-T readers may recall that Champion is called “The Million-Dollar Cowboy” because he won that amount by taking the Bareback Riding championship at RFD-TV’s The American in AT&T Stadium earlier this year.

Tarleton's women's team finished in 16th place in the point standings.

Two other Tarleton athletes posted top-ten finishes in their events. In Saddle Bronc Riding, Travis N. Nelson finished with 278 points and ended up in eighth place. In Barrel Racing Jaime M. Barrow finished in seventh place with 92 points.
