Riding a fast horse while shooting blast after blast of live black powder is a whole lot of fun for everybody in the Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association, or CMSA. But sometimes, a soft spot in the turf or just a stumble can lead to trouble. Rider-shooter Denise Boriack, competing in the Shoot for the Troops event at Lone Star Arena Tuesday, ended up on her back and [not shown] her horse went down too.

Fortunately, with some quick assistance by arena staff, both rider and horse shook it off and came up all right, but the mishap underscores the dangerous nature of CMSA competitions.
