The second performance in this year's TexStar Ford Summer Nights Concert Series will take place this week.

"The first (series) was unbelievable," said Doug Montgomery with TexStar Ford, which sponsors the event.

Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder will take the stage at the Birdsong Amphitheater at City Park at 8 p.m. Thursday.

The country singer has won 14 Grammies and is known for hits like Crying My Heart Out Over You, I Wouldn't Change You If I Could and Country Boy. Skaggs has performed 10 times at Stephenville City Park.

"Every year we have more people call about Ricky Skaggs," Montgomery said. "We enjoy him so much; I always think about how Elvis had two Grammies and Ricky has 14."

On July 4 Larry Joe Taylor and the Tejas Brothers will perform and finishing the series on July 17, Ed Bruce and Davin James will perform.

Montgomery credits the city with making the concert series a possibility.

"We would not be doing this if it wasn't for Drew Wells, Stephenville's director of community services, and SPARD," Montgomery said.
