The fields were full Saturday morning on Tarleton's campus as teams from around the area competed in a state qualifying 7-on-7 tournament.

The Stephenville Yellow Jackets competed in a pool with other teams already qualified for the state tournament including Graham, Brownwood and Abilene Wylie.

The Jackets snuck by Brownwood in their first game winning by a score of 35-31.

They were led by quarterback Jarrett Stidham who hooked up with wide receivers Josh Nowell, Austin Stufflebean and running back Kaegun Williams throughout the game.

The good form didn't hold up however, as Stephenville ran into a wall against the Graham Steers losing 35-19.

The Jackets rebounded quickly defeating Abilene Wylie in their third match-up 46-28.

Stidham completed back-to-back touchdown passes to receiver Darian Brown and Josh Nowell also brought in a touchdown score.

The division II state 7-on-7 tournament will take place Thursday, July 10, and Friday, July 11, at the Veterans Park and Athletic Complex in College Station.
