WEATHERFORD, Texas (AP) — North Texas authorities say a 32-year-old man was arrested for throwing a 6-month-old puppy from a vehicle as he argued with his girlfriend.
Marquael Odoric Greer was charged with cruelty to nonlivestock animals. Online records show the Lancaster resident was held at the Dallas County jail Wednesday but has since bonded out.
Authorities say Greer was arguing with his girlfriend in Parker County, west of Fort Worth, when he grabbed the Chihuahua mix from her lap and threw it out the window while driving along Interstate 20. The animal died instantly.
The Parker County Sheriff's Office says the woman received medical care after telling authorities she was assaulted by Greer, whose criminal record includes convictions for burglary and evading arrest.
Online records did not indicate an attorney for Greer.
