The field of candidates is getting smaller following recent interviews with six candidates hoping to become the next superintendent.
"The interviews went very well overall," said board president Dr. Ann Calahan. "We had lots of excellent candidates who were professional and answered our questions in a very professional manner."
The district is now inviting two back for a second round of interviews.
"There is no favorite candidate as of now," Calahan said. "The board has been very supportive of both candidates and on the agreement of the final two."
Calahan would not release the names of the candidates or comment on the size of the school district they are from.
The second round of interviews will take place June 18-19.
"The board has worked together as a team in interviewing these two great candidates," Calahan said. "The selection of the final two is representative of the caliber of the applicants who chose Stephenville and both have commented frequently on their excitement of possibly coming to SISD as superintendent."
The board will name a lone finalist on June 24 and the vote to hire will take place on July 16.
Former superintendent Dr. Darrell Floyd retired from SISD on June 1.
Dr. Kathy Ray is serving as the interim superintendent.
