For some there's only one way to cool down on a hot day - and that means grabbing an ice cold snow cone.
If you pull into the Coconut Hut next door to Tumbleweed BBQ on the W. South Loop you won't be disappointed, said employee and recent Stephenville High School graduate Bamma Strohmeyer.
"A snow cone on a hot summer day is probably one of the best things in the world," Strohmeyer said. "A tasty snow cone with your choice of flavored syrup is bound to get you going on the right foot."
The stand, which opened in April, has seen its fair share of business already, averaging around 200 customers on a good day, Strohmeyer said.
"This is our new location so some people may not know we're here, but it's only going to get hotter so I expect more people will want to stop in as the temperatures rise," she said.
Some of the most popular flavors include lemon lime, blue and white coconut and funny names like ninja turtle.
"We'll have some people who come by every single day and will get the same thing," Strohmeyer said. "And then we'll see others who try something different until they taste the whole menu. It's fun."
Snow cone prices range from $1.50 to $3.
"It's all about friendly service and having delicious snow cones," Strohmeyer said. "With those two things I think this could be the coolest summer yet."
