The Normandy landings, better known as D-Day, will mark 70 years Friday, and Erath County Veterans will host an event honoring those who have served this country.

The inaugural God and Country Music Concert will honor veterans while featuring Christian-centered entertainment.

The event will include award-winning musical guests Russ Murphy and Barry Ward. It will also include a 12-volt John Deere XUV 550 child off-road vehicle as a door prize.

"The 70th anniversary of D-Day is a big deal to all veterans," said chairman of Erath County Veterans Bradley Oglesby. "We are here to help the veterans that are in the area and this event is one of our major fundraisers."

According to Oglesby, the Erath County Veterans' goal is to provide for the needs of veterans residing in Erath County including food, clothing and other financial assistance.

The event will begin at 7 p.m. Friday at the Community Life Center located at 1217 US Hwy. 67, about 1/8 mile from Hard 8 BBQ.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for kids 12 and under.

Admission is free for all veterans.
