STEPHENVILLE - Services for Maxine (Kitzmann) Thompson Reynolds, 95, a homemaker, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Cowboy Church of Erath County with Rev. Werth Mayes officiating. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Fritsche Cemetery in Cypress. Arrangements are by Lacy Funeral Home.

Maxine was born in Harris County on March 9, 1918 to John A. and Della (Grisbee) Kitzmann. John and Della Kitzmann raised their three children, Maxine, Jim, and John in Cypress. Maxine loved school and was very active in sports, playing softball, volleyball, and tennis. She married Sam Burroughs in 1942 in Hollywood, California. Sam was a pilot in the Air Force and was killed in a plane crash in 1943. Maxine managed the reservation office for Braniff Airways at the Marchman Hotel in Wichita Falls. She met and married Bill Thompson in 1945. They had two children, Greg Lee Thompson and Linda Carol Thompson. Maxine married C.V. Reynolds in Wichita Falls in 1969. Maxine moved to Stephenville in 1986 and became an accomplished watercolor artist, best known for her paintings of historic churches throughout Texas. She also enjoyed playing bridge and was one of the Texas Rangers biggest fans! She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Central Texas Art Association.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda Thompson Schellenberg and husband, Steve, of Irving; son, Greg L. Thompson and wife, Phyllis, of Bluff Dale; son, Sam Bashara of San Antonio; grandchildren, Cindy (Schellenberg) Seaton and husband, Kelly, John Schellenberg and wife, Sasha, and Laura Beth (Thompson) Compton and husband, Mike; two great-children, Avery and Arwen Seaton; her nephew Clayton Kitzmann and wife, Janice; and her sister-in-law, Margaret Kitzmann. She was preceded in death by her brothers, John and Jim Kitzmann.
