Grayson Sweet got loose for 22 points, and Stephenville cut loose of Springtown for a 71-41 area championship victory at Brock High School Friday evening.

The Yellow Jackets, who led just 13-10 after one and 27-18 at the half, did not blow the game open until the fourth quarter. It was 44-29 after three, but SHS sprinted to 27 fourth quarter points while Springtown had 12.

Malik Taylor had half of his 18 in the fourth and hit two of the team's six 3-pointers. Also in double figures was Jarrett Stidham with 10.

Stephenville won its second straight area crown - the only two in school history - and advances to meet a familiar foe in the regional quarterfinals. They meet Wichita Falls Hirschi, at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Jacksboro High School, the same round and location where Hirschi eliminated them a year ago.

Hirschi defeated Burnet 70-56 in their area-round clash.

Other scorers for Stephenville Friday were Brandon Stevens with five, Garrett Cole and Tyler Isham with four each, Tyler Griffin three, Mookie Carlile two and Colby Brandon one.
