On Wednesday, when I took my wife to the hairdresser across from the courthouse, a young, tall policeman, Officer Becker, offered to help us across the icy sidewalk. Since we are both in our mid seventies, we readily agreed. I grew up in the South Plains of Texas, close to Lubbock, where it gets icy almost every winter.

My wife grew up in a milder climate, so was not used to walking on ice or snow. The officer helped her across the icy sidewalk to where it had been cleared and then came back for me. He was gentle and courteous and sure footed on the ice.

We were both very appreciative for his help. He was our guardian angel in uniform.

We wanted Officer Becker to know how much he was appreciated by both of us.

Our thanks and appreciation to all law enforcement,

Vernon and Janice Sneed
