GALVESTON, Texas (AP) — Authorities say the bodies of three missing swimmers — including those of a father and his 10-year-old son — have been found in Southeast Texas following an extensive search.
All three were swimming over the holiday weekend along the San Luis Pass on Galveston Island. The pass is considered a dangerous area to swim because of strong currents.
Brazoria County officials say the bodies of 49-year-old Raul Stothart and son Chandler Stothart were found Tuesday along the shoreline of the pass. The elder Stothart had rushed into the water Sunday after his son was caught in a riptide. They were residents of the Houston suburb of Missouri City.
The third swimmer, an 18-year-old from nearby League City who name has not been released, went missing Saturday. His body was found Monday along the beach in Brazoria County.
