PUEBLO, Colo. - Nikki McNorton is a two-time All-American in track and field and a two-sport All-American for Tarleton State.

McNorton cleared 5 feet, 8-1/2 inches to finish sixth in the womenís high jump competition at the NCAA Division II Track & Field Outdoor Championships at the Thunderbowl Saturday. The top eight earn spots on the All-America team.

McNorton was a silver medalist in the same event last year, and was named an All-American in volleyball last fall by Daktronics. She is a junior as far as track eligibility, despite being a senior in volleyball.

McNortonís performance highlighted Tarletonís performances at the national meet, where Chase Rathke had the 10th fastest preliminary time of 1 minute, 52.32 seconds in the menís 800-meter run. The top nine advanced to the finals.

McNorton was 17th in the prelims in the 100 hurdles, finishing in 14.08 seconds.

Danyelle Dillard was 18th in the womenís shot put with a best throw of 44-1-1/4. Davene Carter no-heighted in the menís high jump.
