Brady Pendleton won his bid for Place 5 on the Stephenville City Council.

He received 2,024 votes (60%) to Mary Beach McGuire's 1,330 votes (40%).

"I am excited about the way it turned out," Pendleton said. "I definitely congratulate Mary because she does a lot for the community - and that's why Stephenville is such a great place to live. I'm looking forward to going to work for the city."

This was McGuire's third try for a spot on the council.

She said she was "definitely disappointed" by the loss, but would not rule out another try in the future.

"I will definitely stay active in trying to make Stephenville a better place to live for everyone," she said Tuesday.

Place 5 was formerly held by Alan Nash who stepped down last summer after he was named district attorney. This election fills his unexpired term and will be up for grabs again in May.
