Dublin head coach Bob Cervetto said his team's defense has improved vastly since last season.
After a weather delay at Dublin Memorial Stadium Friday, the Lions proved him right.
Dublin, coming off a 1-9 mark in Cervetto's first season, limited the first-team offense from Venus, a 5-5 3A club last season, to just one score.
"I thought we had improved tremendously on that side of the ball, and clearly we have," said Cervetto. "That was the brightest spot of the scrimmage was the way our starting defense flew around for the most part."
The Lions did not score on offense, but Cervetto is more concerned with daily improvements.
"We saw some things, learned some things, now we have to go out and improve on them," he said. "Since day one I feel like we've gotten better every time out. That's what we have to continue."
