Stephenville ISD Superintendent Dr. Darrell Floyd has been certified as TASA (Texas Association of School Administrators) president-elect. His term will begin June 1. He will assume the role of president in the June 2013 term.
Following the announcement, Dr. Ann Calahan, president of SISD board of trustees, congratulated Floyd.
"Dr. Floyd, as president-elect of TASA, continues to provide leadership for the public schools in Texas," Calahan said. "His experiences as president of the Texas Association of Midsize Schools and his leadership in various positions have clearly prepared him for this prestigious position. His leadership will provide state-wide recognition for Stephenville ISD. Congratulations, Dr. Floyd."
According to the association, Floyd has been a TASA member for 23 years, and member of the TASA Executive Committee since 2009–10.
He offers extensive experience to the association, with more than 26 years in public education and 15 years as a superintendent. Floyd has served superintendent of Stephenville ISD since 2000.
"Having served this past year as vice president of TASA, and having served as president of the Texas Association of Midsize Schools from 2008-2010, has given me a unique, broader statewide leadership perspective," Floyd said. "As I assume the TASA president-elect position June 1st, and then the president position a year later, I am honored to be able to represent school administrators across the great state of Texas."
