Stephenville spoiled San Angelo Lake View's senior night celebration by defeating the Maidens 5-1 behind freshman Cassidy Cline's hat trick Friday night.

The Bees controlled the first half hour of play before Cline finally got the scoring started in the 33rd minute. She dribbled around a Lake View defender and goal keeper, setting up an uncontested shot to the net.

The Bees took the 1-0 lead into the second half where Abby Cole scored on a rebound off a Cline shot in the 49th minute for a two-goal advantage.

Three freshmen teamed up to score in the 61st minute as Cline centered to Brooklyn Fergason, who redirected to an open Madison Kalsbeek for a tap in that gave SHS complete control.

Lake View broke the shutout two minutes later thanks to a penalty kick because of a Honeybee violation in front of their goal.

It didn't matter as Stephenville center midfielder Shelbey Stone crushed a free kick over the defense from deep in the Bees' zone, and Cline was first to the ball. She touched it past the charging Lake view keeper to set up another point blank shot.

The freshman's final goal came in the 77th minute when she put one over the head of the keeper after a nice through ball by Cole.

SHS has a week to prepare before beginning the state playoffs. The Bees face Canyon Randall Tuesday, April 3 at Memorial Stadium in Wichita Falls.
