The 2009 Miss Dublin candidates will take the stage Friday night in the Dublin Middle School auditorium in a competition to see who will be the next in a long line of royalty representing the “Irish Capitol of Texas.”

The night will be full of glitz and glamour, as the seven contestants compete for the crown, but only one can claim the title.

The contestants range in age from 15 to 17, and all live in and attend school in Dublin. The pageant, which awards scholarships to the winners, will take place at 7 p.m. and will help kick off this weekend’s St. Patrick’s Day activities in Dublin.

The theme of the pageant is “For the Love of Dublin,” and the girls were asked during their interview, which counts for 30 points of their total score, what they loved about Dublin. Their responses varied, but all pointed out that the small community is a great town.

The seven contestants include Kassidy Stephen, 15, daughter of Kellie and Sloan St. Germain and J.P. and Susan Stephen; Kathleen Cardona, 16, daughter of Joann Stoll and Robert Cordona; Kimberly Ramos, 16, daughter of Damon and Margie McMillian; Kesslea Johnson, 16, daughter of Mike Johnson and Jesslea Johnson; Mayra Lopez, 17, daughter of Cristobal Lopez and Maria Lopez; Jocelyn Zuniga, 17, daughter of Maridel Avilez and Arturo Zuniga; and Maricarmen Pantoja, 17, daughter of Gaudencio and Carmen Pantoja.

The girls will compete not only for the Miss Dublin title, but also for first and second runner up, Miss Congeniality, Most Photogenic and Most Ticket Sales.

The first appearance for the newly crowned royalty will be on Saturday morning during the parade, which will wind its way through Dublin beginning at 10 a.m.
