DESDEMONA — Evah Sparkman, 97, passed away at home with her family by her side on Friday, May 23, 2008.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at the First Baptist Church in Desdemona with Gary Hughes and Tim White officiating. Burial will be in Desdemona Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, May 26, 2008, at the Higginbotham Funeral Home in Gorman.
She was born on May 4, 1911, to Homer and Buna Fuqua Abernathy. She was a life long resident of Desdemona. She was a life long servant to the First Baptist Church of Desdemona. She married Jessie Joe Sparkman on Dec. 22, 1927. He preceded her in death on Decm 30, 1969.
She was preceded in death, by her brother, Melvin Abernathy; sister, Eva Alread; daughter-in-law, Johnnie Ruth Sparkman; granddaughter, Paula Renee Carter; and great-grandson, Michael Ray Carter.
She is survived by her son, Homer Joe Sparkman of Stephenville; four grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and five great, great-grandchildren.
