Stephenville had its six-match winning streak snapped in three sets by Copperas Cove in a playoff practice match Monday, 25-22, 25-20, 25-23.

The good news for the Honeybees is the match doesn't count in the single-elimination playoff tournament.

Stephenville will play the loser of last night's one-game District 7-4A playoff in the first round of the post season later this week. FW Southwest and FW O.D. Wyatt were playing to determine the second and third seeds from 7-4A. Results were not available at press time.

Stephenville had a chance to seize the momentum early at Copperas Cove.

The Bees built a four-point advantage at 21-17, before the Lady Dawgs closed out the opening game with a 8-1 run for the win.

“We weren't really into it, Stephenville Coach Fran Metzger said. “We were kind of flat.

Metzger and the Bees worked in practice Tuesday on correcting some of their problems in the loss.

“We had some trouble with service receives, so we worked on that, Metzger said.

MaKayla Elliott led Stephenville with 11 kills and seven digs and five blocks, four of which landed for points.

Also attacking the net were Claire Goodman with eight kills, Christina Murphy with six and Meghan Muir with five on only 10 sets for .500-hitting percentage.

Kelsey Anglin added four blocks to Elliott's five. The Bees finished with 12 blocks as a team, but also made 12 blocking errors.

Allison Snow made 20 assists for the Bees, and also had eight digs. Sage Lasater led in digs with 14, while Brianna Bledsoe contributed to the assist total with 14.
